Robert R. Zinkel

 

            Bob is a lifelong resident of the Chicago Area.  He attended Illinois Institute of Technology where he earned a B.S. in Fire Protection Engineering.  He was awarded the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter designation and has obtained further certification in Risk Management and Underwriting from the American Institute for Property and Liability Underwriters.

 

          Bob’s professional career spanned forty-five years in the insurance industry with nationwide brokerage firms as an Account Executive with responsibility for the Property and Liability insurance programs of major industrial and commercial companies as well as a variety of non-profit corporations.  He served as President of the Chicago Chapter, Society of Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters and as a Director of the Chicago Chapter, Society of Fire Protection Engineers.  He retired as an Area Vice President of Arthur J. Gallagher and Co.

 

          Bob is a member of Calvary U. P. Church in Park Forest where he has served as Clerk of Session, Treasurer, Mission Committee Chair, Transformation Committee Chair, Stewardship Committee Chair, Endowment Committee Chair and Elder Commissioner to the Presbytery Assembly.  He has served the Presbytery of Chicago on the Nominations committee, the New Church Development committee, the Business Affairs Work Group and the Camp Oversight and Development Work Group as well as a delegate to the Synod of Lincoln Trails and on the Administrative Commission for the Altgeld Gardens Church.  He is currently serving on the Board of Directors of the Jones Memorial Community Center as its Treasurer and on the Leadership Team of Mission Council 8, a mission team of the Presbytery of Chicago.

 

          Bob’s involvement with the Presbyterian Camps in Saugatuck began when his children attended camp in the 1970’s.  His wife, Nellie, has served as a Camp Counselor for several years.  Bob is committed to the continuation of the camping ministry at Saugatuck and is happy to help the LCC board members work to preserve the camp for Chicago Presbyterians in the future.
