Lisa T. Doak

Lisa was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin and grew up in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois.  She attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and earned a B.S. in Accountancy.  Upon graduation, she worked on the audit staff of the public accounting firm, Deloitte, Haskins and Sells (now known as Deloitte) for three years and holds a CPA certificate in the state of Illinois.  She subsequently took a position as a staff accountant for a large regional real estate development/management company.  During her five year tenure with that company, she held positions in property management accounting, corporate reporting and project cost accounting.  She then accepted a position as a financial feasibility analyst with a Chicago-based commercial real estate development company and worked there for two years.  During her time working in real estate, she earned an M.B.A. degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management with emphasis in Finance and Strategic Planning.

Since retiring from the business world to be a full-time mom, Lisa has volunteered as a Girl Scout leader for several years and served on her condominium board of directors as well as volunteering in various capacities at her daughter’s schools.  Favorite leisure activities include cooking, hiking, photography, cycling, golf and skiing on both snow and water with her family.

Lisa has been a member of the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago since 1994.  She is an elder at Fourth and has served on their Children and Family Ministry Committee for over ten years.  She is serving as co-chairperson of that committee through May of 2009.  Lisa has coordinated Fourth Church’s semi-annual family retreat weekends at the Presbyterian Camps in Saugatuck for most of her time on the committee.  As a result of this work with the camp and her background in real estate, Lisa was asked to moderate the committee appointed to develop a Master Plan for the long-term refurbishment and improvement of the facilities at Presbyterian Camps and also to join the Camp Oversight and Development Committee (now Work Group) of the Presbytery of Chicago.  In addition to chairing the Master Plan committee, she has served as Recording Clerk of the Camp Oversight Work Group and on various task forces for the camp.

The Presbyterian Camps of Saugatuck are a very special place to Lisa and all the members of her family.  Although not raised with the benefits of Christian camping experiences, she quickly learned to rejoice in the unique sustenance for the soul that comes from camp fellowship.  Her work on the Master Plan committee with the state environmental regulators has also given her a tremendous appreciation for the irreplaceable jewel that is the Presbyterian Camps.
