Donald W. Gilliard

 

 

            Donald W. Gilliard has spent most of his life in the Chicago area, and attended the University of Illinois in Urbana where he earned a BS in Organizational Behavior and an MBA in Accounting.  He was awarded a Certified Public Accountant certificate in Illinois.

 

          Don began his career in Public Accounting at the firm of Touche Ross & Co. (now known as Deloitte & Touche) as an auditor and later as a management consultant.  From there he served as internal audit manager at McGraw Edison Company, an international manufacturer and distributor of consumer and industrial electrical products, and later accepted the role of Vice President and Controller for the Schwinn Bicycle Company in Chicago.  His career then lead him into the food industry in the role of Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for Bunge Foods, Pennant Foods, and Sara Lee Coffee & Tea.

 

          Upon retiring from the corporate world, Don had the opportunity to explore service in the not-for-profit sector.  He currently serves as Financial Director for Hearts In Motion, an international medical and service provider to countries in Central and South America.  In addition, he has served on several committees and task forces at the Presbytery of Chicago, including the Camp Oversight and Development Committee where he chaired the Administration Committee.

         

          Don serves as a Ruling Elder at Community Presbyterian Church in Lombard, where he has worshipped since 1978.  He also served as Stewardship Chairman and on several other Church planning committees, and is an ordained Deacon.

         

          His connection with the Presbyterian Camps at Saugatuck began with his two sons attending the camp in the 1980s and his wife, Diane, served as Camp Counselor for several years.  Don is firmly committed to the camping ministry, and is delighted to serve with the other LCC Board members to maintain and grow the mission at the Camp for future generations.
